Reports: Sai Pallavi to Join The Sets of Prabhasâ Kalki 2?

In January this year, Filmfare reported that Sai Pallavi was likely to replace Deepika Padukone in Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2. The actress has been among the contenders for the female lead in the second instalment of Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic. However, with developments surrounding the film progressing slowly, speculation about her involvement had subsided. Now, her name has resurfaced following reports that the makers have resumed shooting on a new schedule.

Sai Pallavi has remained a contender

In September last year, production house Vyjayanthi Movies confirmed that it had parted ways with Deepika Padukone after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on the commitment required for the project. Since then, speculation about who would take over as the female lead in the Prabhas-starrer has continued, with several actresses reportedly being considered.

Known for her natural acting style, emotional depth and understated screen presence, Sai Pallavi has consistently featured in discussions around the casting. According to the latest reports, the actress is expected to join the sets of Kalki 2 shortly. However, the makers have yet to officially confirm her involvement.

Meanwhile, fans of Prabhas and Sai Pallavi have already begun expressing their excitement about the possibility of seeing the two actors share the screen. Her acclaimed performances in films such as Fidaa, Love Story, Shyam Singha Roy and Thandel have further strengthened her reputation as a versatile performer.

Her growing visibility in Hindi cinema could also work in her favour. Following her Hindi debut with Ek Din, Sai Pallavi is set to appear in the upcoming Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana, potentially expanding her reach among Hindi-speaking audiences.

High expectations for Kalki 2

Expectations are high for Kalki 2 following the enormous box-office success of its predecessor and its subsequent recognition at the 72nd National Film Awards. Director Nag Ashwin has hinted at a bigger, bolder and more emotionally intense narrative that will delve deeper into the film's science-fiction and mythological elements.

He has also spoken about the importance of characters such as Karna and Ashwatthama in the larger story. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are expected to reprise their prominent roles in the sequel.

While anticipation continues to build around the project, Sai Pallavi’s reported casting remains unconfirmed. An official announcement from the makers is awaited.
