Bollywood is quite known for its big-scale dramatic entertainers, and although sometimes it might take a while, some things are definitely worth the wait. According to sources, starring Bollywood actor Kartik Aryan, his upcoming film, ‘Captain India’, was initially announced in 2021 under the direction of Hansal Mehta. The film was stalled for a long time, which puzzled the people about its prospects. Its first look was released in July, 2021.
However, according to reports from Mid-day, Shimit Amin, best known for films like Chak De! India and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year have now taken over the direction. This film also marks his return as a director. Further, ‘Captain India’ is reportedly based on real-life incidents and will be set in the thriller genre.

Although the timeline for the film’s release is a bit clearer now, it is reported that Kartik Aryan's schedule is quite busy, with the actor involved in multiple projects at different stages of production at the same time. Among them is an untitled romantic drama, whose teaser was initially released last year, in February. Originally scheduled for December 2025, the film’s release has been pushed back and is now expected to arrive in theatres by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
Moreover, the director of the untitled romantic drama, Anurag Basu, has also expressed his long-time, genuine interest in creating a biopic on legendary singer Kishore Kumar. Talking about his interest in beginning this project, director Anurag Basu opened up by saying, “I’m dying to jump into that film as soon as I get over with the film which I’m doing right now," adding, “I want to finish this and get into Kishore as soon as possible.”
